System for Supporting the Diagnosis and Therapy of Auditory Processing Disorders Using EEG Technology and Artificial Intelligence Methods

We are pleased to announce that Centrum Słuchu i Mowy sp. z o.o. has signed an agreement with PARP for co-financing under the European Funds for a Modern Economy Program to implement the Project titled “System Supporting the Diagnosis and Therapy of Auditory Processing Disorders Using EEG Technology and Artificial Intelligence Methods.”
The goal of the project is to develop an advanced platform that will revolutionize the process of diagnosing and treating disorders related to central auditory processing.

As part of the project implementation, it is planned to create a platform for automatically retrieving results from recordings of cortical auditory evoked potentials using EEG and their automatic evaluation. The tool will additionally retrieve and analyze the results of other tests performed by patients. Thanks to this, the platform will provide diagnostic decision support, indicating at what level the disorders occur, and will create a mechanism for automatic personalized therapy programming with continuous progress monitoring through recordings of cortical auditory evoked potentials:

  1. Development of a diagnostic station for assessing auditory processing using EEG to record cortical auditory evoked potentials.
  2. Expansion of the diagnostic station with a module for collecting and analyzing medical data in correlation with cortical auditory evoked potentials.
  3. Conducting a research experiment on selected patient groups along with the collection of prospective data to develop and validate AI algorithms for the automatic assessment of cortical auditory potentials.
  4. Expansion of the diagnostic station with the functionality of automatic programming of individualized rehabilitation plans for auditory processing disorders in selected diagnostic subgroups.
  5. Validation of the solution’s operation in a situation similar to real-life conditions.

The project is aimed at individuals with special needs, such as: people with central auditory processing disorders (CAPD), including those with tinnitus, people with mental and intellectual disorders, including dementia, people with developmental dysfunctions, the elderly, and people who have difficulty communicating.

Additionally, as part of the Project, the DIGITIZATION Module will be implemented. The goal of the module is to carry out the digital transformation of internal processes and work methods, involving the introduction of solutions that streamline the conduct of medical activities and communication directed towards patients and clients.

Automatic Support for ABR and Pure-Tone Audiometry Tests Using Artificial Intelligence Methods

The Project Description

During the project implementation, an automatic response detection system will be created, which analyzes ABR hearing test results. The system will be able to evaluate ABR test results, significantly reducing the risk of errors resulting from subjective assessment. Additionally, a similar algorithm will be developed for pure-tone audiometry, which will assist less experienced specialists in making decisions regarding further therapeutic procedures. Thanks to continuous learning based on data and expert opinions, the system will constantly improve its skills, providing increasingly precise and reliable results.

The target group will include both doctors, who after purchasing the system will be able to read test results, and patients who often have limited access to qualified specialists. Furthermore, the developed system will contribute to shortening the time of result evaluation, which directly translates into faster initiation of appropriate treatment and also reduces the cost of such an examination.

Project implementation will take place through the following tasks:

  1. Verification and analysis of data obtained from measuring devices.
  2. Research of appropriate algorithms for analyzing pure-tone audiometry test results.
  3. Research of appropriate artificial intelligence algorithms for analyzing ABR test results.
  4. Integration of developed algorithms with the Applicant’s system.

Additionally, the need to improve the efficiency of internal processes within the company and raise the level of security and adapt information processing methods, which will enable the Digitalization module, has been identified. Within its scope, it will be possible to:

* create a redundant server room in the Center of Hearing and Speech MEDINCUS in Rzeszów, for which modern equipment will be purchased

* implement corporate email service based on a server solution installed in the server room in Rzeszów

* create a personnel and employee management platform, whose goal is to digitize payroll and HR processes.

Adaptive Screening-Diagnostic System Hear Box

Project Description: The subject of the project is the development of a new product – an adaptive screening-diagnostic system Hear Box for independent hearing tests in rooms with varying acoustics. As part of the Project, a Hear Box workstation will be developed for independent hearing screening tests based on automatic hearing threshold detection algorithms and self-tests to assess auditory processing disorders. The testing process will be supported by active noise reduction algorithms. The key innovation developed as part of the Project will be an interface for active elimination of background noise in the environment of the hearing screening system, which will enable broader accessibility to screening tests and the possibility of conducting tests in an environment that negatively affects test results, as well as eliminate the need to conduct tests in a specially soundproofed room. The target group of the Project will be individuals interested in conducting hearing tests, aged 6 years and older. The project is implemented based on a co-financing agreement POIR.01.01.01-00-1110/20.
